Meet the Owner
Dan Shumway, owner and CEO of D&D Custom Cabinets & Countertops is a Utah native and has always loved woodworking and had a strong desire to own a business. When he started learning the cabinet trade in 1997, he loved the building and installation process because there was a real sense of pride building something with his hands and especially as he learned the art of craftsmanship, and the satisfaction of standing back at the end of each project and admiring what he and his associates had built together.
As he continued to gain experience, he learned to love the design stage of the process where creativity and functionality would find a balance. With more experience he came to realize that perhaps the most important part of each project was building a relationship of trust with each potential client, and maybe he could do that better than those he was currently learning the trade from! That meant that he would have to show them his commitment to quality materials and workmanship, and that he would be able to craft the best possible design for their space. It meant taking them through the entire process; ordering, delivery and installation with clear communication of timelines and what to expect. It also meant he would give all of this to them at a fair price and would back that up with a personal guarantee. He would do what he said he was going to do, and if something did not meet the customers’ expectations, he would make it right, no questions asked.
That business philosophy definitely paid off and now almost 27 years later, D&D has build a stellar reputation serving hundreds of customers from small cottages and tract homes to multi-million dollar custom homes, and everything in between.
